Will has shingles. No, not that kind! He has the varicella rash. He had chicken pox when he was 4, but it's made a comeback! He was complaining Friday that he had an itch. On Saturday it was worse, so I made him pull of his shirt so I could get a look. Sure enough, he had a rash, wrapping around his chest on one side. No blisters yet, but it looked suspicious to me.I wasn't sure if he could wait till Monday to see the doctor or not, but after chatting with friends on FB, I decided to take him in to the Urgent Care that day and not wait. Turns out, the doctor was impressed at my Dr. Mom diagnosis. It WAS shingles, and he got started right away on a medicine that should shorten the course of the illness. The doctor said Will was the youngest patient he's seen, and it's the mildest case he's seen. So far, anyway. Today it looked better, but Will was miserable, itchy and uncomfortable. He is not contagious, unless you haven't had chicken pox or the vaccine. The doctor cleared him to go to school on Monday, as long as he feels well enough, but if you haven't had the disease, you better avoid our house for a bit.
Poor Will! No hugs, BTW; it hurts. But he's accepting Get Well Treats!

That's crazy! I'm glad you took him in and didn't wait. Hope he feels better asap. You should call them "Get Will Treats!" ;)
That Carrie. She is so funny. :)
That is strange that he got them so young. I had them a few years back, very mild, but it was still very annoying. I hope he feels better very soon.
